Farm Energy Centre (FEC) – United Kingdom


Services Ltd was formed in 2000 following a management buyout of the company assests from its previous owner (EA Technology Ltd). The company has over 35 years experience in energy systems engineering for Horticulture and agriculture. The company is believed to be the only organisation in the UK specialising in Horticultural Energy Systems Engineering. Current asignments include development projects on horticultural energy efficiency. These include projects on temperature integration climate controls, thermal screens and assimulation lighting for all year round greenhouse vegetable crop production. Clients include the Horticultural Development Council (UK levy body for horticulture) and DEFRA (government department responsible for environmental protection and food).

Possible contribution to the project: Investigations, development work and technology transfer associated with efficient greenhouse energy systems. This to include information sharing on the performance of heating, lighting and environmental control systems based on development and commercial uptake in the UK. Also includes communication with leading horticultural companies throughout Europe. Technology transfer of techniques used in other parts of Europe to the UK. The results of project will assist FEC to offer modern system for the greenhouse growers and open the new market for its production in European countries with higher improvement demand in greenhouse energy system e.g. east Europe countries, North Europe countries with higher thermal demand.
